2016 Running

GSK (formerly Novartis) 10K

My first race of 2016 with the GSK 10K. I parked at Colbi's apartment and then made my way over to the race. I don't remember a lot from the race but just that it was cold and I was happy to be doing it. After winding around the hill going up 56th Street is always super tough but it's nice to come back down and then I weaved back in by Colbi's apartment again before the finish line.


Lincoln Half Marathon

This was a miserable, wet day. A week or two before I was running it backwards like I normally do and I twisted my ankle bad on Huntington. I just remember hanging out for the first time in the Campus Rec building at UNL awaiting my turn and for my pace to make it's way forward. I remember feeling really good as I weaved my way around town. I remember getting to the 10 mile mark and really struggling and then just found a way to finish. It's always so great finishing in Memorial Stadium!

Bolder Boulder 10K

It was great to run it with Colbi. We went out early and then spend some time with my cousin Greg and his family before spending the night in Boulder. We thought we were right by a bus stop that would take us down to the starting line but then we found out the bus wouldn't be running that day so we had quite a walk to the line. It ended up working out pretty good because just as we arrived and got into place our wave was getting ready to move to the front of the line. It was fun to run it with Colbi and point out all of the different things that take place during a fun run! It was fun running into Colorado's football stadium with her too and holding hands across the finish line. It's a memory I will never forget.

Colbi, Bret and I did this run again this year. It's great to do it with them! It was a great day for a run. Probably the lasting memory is that Nebraska punter Sam Foltz did that run too and later in the month he died in a car crash while at a football camp. There was a cool image of him running with a kid looking up to him.

Beer and Bagel Run

I ran this one with Nunez this year! We've got this one down to a science. We started near the front of the pack and actually had a great run. When we got back we were one of the first people in line for beer and chili! That's what this run is really about anyway!
